Staying at home can be a bit of a hit to the old fitness motivation and in the current situation, many of us have been forced to find new ways to exercise. Of course, for those who usually lift heavy may have a tougher time adjusting, but those who focus on cardio and body weight exercises will have it a bit easier. I do a fair amount of exercise at home and have compiled a decent list of workout channels that I’ve found on YouTube. I’ve chosen a range as well since not everyone may want to do HIIT every day, while others don’t see themselves as dancers. Either way, you’ll get a good workout in. No gym? No problem.
We may not be able to go out and dance, but we can bring the party back home. Best suited for the intermediate dancers out there, MYLEE Dance will help you get your groove on with a playlist of pop music. Even if you’re not much of a dancer, follow along a few times and you’ll start getting the hang of it. They release new workouts almost every week so you won’t get bored either. Maybe you’ll even learn some new moves you can show off once life gets back to normal.
Yoga With Adrienne
For a more calming workout that will help stretch out your body and relax your mind, Yoga With Adrienne is the way to go. Whether you’re a experienced yogi or just want a good stretch after sitting at your desk all day, you’re spoilt with flows to choose from. If you’re interested in meditation, then you are in luck; Yoga With Adrienne has also done a few mediation walk through videos you can follow.
Funny Sunny Fitness
It’s been quite a few since Zumba became a worldwide phenomenon and even though it may have gone down in popularity, it is still a great way to get the heart pumping. My mum bought the official discs back during its peak and I still follow along on the occasion. But I’ve also found some YouTube channels which means I can finally Zumba along to a different playlist after 10 years of the same 5 workouts. Funny Sunny Fitness is my personal favourite; she’s bubbly, the moves are fun to dance to and the songs are certified bops.
SELF doesn’t only focus on workouts, they have all kinds of videos relating to fitness and wellness. Now I am focusing on the workout part because they have exercises that you can easily do at home and they make you feel pretty damn accomplished afterwards. They have quite a few HIIT videos which stands for high intensity interval training. This usually consists of completing several rounds of the same moves with a short rest in between each round. Definitely helps you work up a sweat, and a great way to do body weight exercises.
Last, but not least, we have POPSUGAR Fitness. Now I linked a boxing workout above, but if you go to their channel you’ll find almost any kind of workout you could possibly find. From barre to boot camp, you won’t have a hard time finding that suits your style of exercise. I do get a very 80s aerobics class vibes from many of the instructors, but that’s part of the fun for me. The majority of the exercises also don’t require any sort of equipment so you can get started straight away.
